From Louisiana’s capital city of Baton Rouge come Spiritiste, an occult-influenced emotional hardcore band. Spiritiste's politically charged debut album, Excommunication Hymns, is a rage-filled effort that rallies against religious and political oppression, and reflects on the emotional trauma of trying to survive in the current fetid political climate/environment. Still, across these ten very expressive, cathartic tracks, the band does ultimately retain hope for a better world.
Sonically, Spiritiste have crafted a fresh, but identifiable, sound with dynamics that shift between steady and composed to chaotic sonic bedlam.
